Handwriting
Poor handwriting
may be the result of a desk which is too high, poor visual spatial
perception, weak postural control, inadequate stability in the trunk,
shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand, weak musculature, underdeveloped
hand function or a combination of the above.
Handwriting
groups are designed to address the fundamentals of writing in conjunction
with the actual writing process. Hand development and readiness
for writing are essential to enable one to write smoothly and with
ease. Stability, separation of the sides of the hand, development
of the hand arches and web space as well as in hand manipulation
skills are all components essential for writing. Activities are
designed to address the multiple aspects of handwriting either individually
or within a small group setting.
