General Information

From previous years of experience, we have learned that having a child attend for the entire six weeks is the most beneficial way to enhance his/her skills and to make rapid progress. During the six weeks, children are able to build upon their current skills and add new ones. Changes and improvements are frequently seen in fine and gross motor skills, endurance, socialization and self-esteem. Enrollment is limited to 48 children. Groups consist of 7-10 individuals who are directed by therapeutic staff trained in sensory integration techniques, primarily occupational therapists. Staff to child ratio ranges from one to three to one to five.

Fridays are half days. Midway through the program, children perform music and movement activities in their groups for a Family and Friends Day presentation. The last day of the program is a celebration where each child demonstrates skills he/she has mastered. The day includes an Awards Ceremony where each child's individual achievements are applauded.

Parents receive progress reports at the end of the third and sixth weeks. Conferences are scheduled immediately following the last day of the session so that parents can review their child's experience with the group leader and discuss recommendations for the future.
